Letter to the Victorian Attorney General from Free Speech Victoria and Liberty Victoria. Brian Walters, President, Liberty Victoria
In late 2004 Liberty Victoria and Free Speech Victoria wrote to Attorney-General Rob Hulls proposing reforms to protect the right to public particpation and freedom of speech. One concerned restricting the use of defamation laws by or for corporations, the other more general proposal aims to stop Strategic Litigation Against Public Participation “SLAPP writs”as litigation for an improper purpose, namely to restrict public protest and other political action.
